There were 3 Asiatic Dowitchers feeding in amongst the wrath of other Waders. Apologies for the poor quality but it was dusk and the birds were feeding some distance away. These 3 birds at Kapar now takes my tally of this species to nearly 40 birds with the largest flock being of 27 at Khok Kham in 2005.

Nordmans Greenshank
I have now seen close to nearly 70 of this sepcies, from the Mudflats of Krabi, to a flock of 21 at Khok Kham, and 17 here at Kapar. They are a truly enigmatic bird and only when you see them upclose do you really get "a feel" for how gentil and soft they look. An amazing Tringa and a possible "at risk species". We have to do more to conserve habitats for such such great birds.....
Leucistic Lesser Sandplover
As seems to be the case so often, when you get a large number of birds you find anomalies, This leucistic Lesser Sandplover was seen amongst a large group of Lesser and Greater Sandplover's. This bird has been present at the site throughout the winter as David has seen it on previous visits. Will be interestng to see if this bird returns in future winters.
Penag to Kapar
After, tuk tuk, train, boat, and several stop over's along the way the final leg to Kapar is here and the long awaited visit to Kapar Power station ash lagoons is only hours away.
