Point Highlights May 09

Sanderling in the roost at high tide,highest single tide total this spring was 12.
Little Stint 1 of 2 that roosted on the point during high tide this spring.Curlew Sandpiper a 1 tide bird on the point this spring.Ringed Plovers and Dunlins used the point throughout the spring with highest sinlge tide totals being 96Ringed Plover and 112 Dunlin both on the 14th May.

Highlights of the Point this May:
Curlew Sandpiper 1 on the 26th May,
Little Stint 1 on the 11th,13th and 2 on the 14th May,
Knot 2 on the 14th and 27th with 14 on the 29th May,
Sanderling 12 on the 13th May,
Bar Tailed Godwit 9 on the 13th May,
Turnstone 30+ on the 14th and CCV on the 27th May,
Ringed Plover peaked at 96 on the 14th May
Dunlin peaked at 112+ on the 14th May
Black Tern 11 flew east on the 13th May
Fulmar 1 flew past the point twice on the 29th May.

Spring Red Knot 29th May 09


Today held a nice surprise in the form of 14 Knot. This is the largest spring count for the point and the other record this spring was of 2 adult birds on the 14th May.Also today:53 Ringed Plover,28 Dunlin,16 Grey Plover, 2 Oystercatchers,Turnstone8, Sandwich Tern 2,1 Little Tern 2,Common Tern and a Fulmar heading west at 16:55.
