As per the posting I made here on Wednesday 3rd December suspecting that the 2 Colour Ringed Red Knot I had observed at the feeding area on the 2nd December could be from Denmark are infact from Germany. News just came in today via email and I was both surprised and pleased at discovering that the 2 Colour Ringed Red Knot are actually from a project in Germany! Part of the email with details below:
Knot 4: (GY / M // RW / B)
L: Y over G
R: B / W over R
was ringed by me on 01.08.2003, Westerhever Sand, Nordfriesland, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany (54.22 N 08.38 E)
Helgoland ring: 7697980
as an adult!
Knot 6: (GO / M // RY / B)
L: O over G
R: ? / Y over R
was ringed by me on 29.08.1998, Westerhever Sand, Nordfriesland, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany (54.22 N 08.38 E)
Helgoland ring: 6326418
as an adult!
There was another record of this bird, at Canvey, Flock size: 122 in spring already by Johannes Kamp, Date: 06.03.2009, 16:40.
This is my first German recovery and I must admit I am very pleased with this. So now in this area I have recovered Colour/Flag Ringed Red Knot from Norway, Holland and Germany. Thank you to both Klaus and Johaness for providing the information on these birds history.
