Western Sandpiper (Photographic Library)

The above photo and 3 below are of a fresh, crisp juvenile at Praia da Vitoria harbour, Terceira, Azores, September 2010.This is the first and only western I have been fortunate enough to find.

The photo above and remaining photos below were taken from the Arctic breeding grounds of Cape Krusenstern national monument, Kotzebue, Alaska June 2010.

The above photo is of an adult brooding 4, 2 day old chicks, (photos below)

One of the adults that was trapped, flag ringed and samples of blood and feather were taken from.

The above video is of an adult bird feeding on the muddy edges of a fresh water lake,  Kotzebue, Alaska, June 2010. The below video is of a nice juvenile bird found by Richard Bonser at Cabo da Praia quarry, Terceira, Azores, September 2009. This was only the second Western Sandpiper I had seen after the individual at Brownsea Island,Poole harbour, Dorset, October 2004
