Canvey Point at Sunrise, The Sea was like a Mill Pond at High Tide and just felt like such a nice place to be.
This Turnstone was part of a group of 40+ birds present with only 16 roosting on the Point. The Point today produced: 4 Bar tailed Godwit (still in winter plumage) 29 Dunlin, 40+ Turnstone, Whimbrel 2, Grey Plover 2, Oystercatcher 40+, 2 Sandwich Tern, 8 Common Tern & 1 Yellow Wagtail.
After Canvey I then went on to Vange Wick, Fobbing and finished the day at Vange Marsh. The area was very Productive today with the following sightings: Wheatear 12+, Nightingale 2 (heard), Cuckoo 1 (Heard) Reed Warbler-, Grasshopper Warbler 2 (heard) 1 on old tip opposite Saline Lagoon and the other opposite Merricks Sluice, Yellow Wagtail 2, Hobby 2 sightings 1 on Fobbing the other Vange Creek.
Vange Creek (above) this and the one of the floods was productive today for waders with:
1 Redshank, 1 Spotted Redshank, 11 Greenshank, 2 Common Sand's & 1 Whimbrel.
13 hours in the field is tiring but this was the most productive day of the spring so far with Great weather and a good feel of Migration
