William Bell: This is a cracking tune and so I just thought I would share it on here with you, sadly there is no video to accompany this classic tune..........

Russia (Day 77) Anadyr
I had planned to start the day early out on the lagoon for the rise of the tide but the weather had other plans for me (video above from my hotel room) . I sat it out hoping that within the hour it would pass by and clear but as each new hour came so did the rains. The fog rolled in so bad at one point I could barely see the end of the hotel car park. Eventually at 14:00hrs the rain began to clear and by 15:00hrs the lagoon was visible and the sun was starting to shine bright from above. As I started my walk out the first birds I saw were 4 Great Knot on the pools by the road side albeit briefly before they were flew off towards the mountain area. Wood Sandpipers were ever present on nearly every small pool. A single PGP was the only bird on the actual airport marsh. The lagoon had a marked increased in red necked stints and dunlins with a mixed flock of near on a thousand birds. I had hoped that with the luck of yesterday with the aleutian tern that the luck would stick to form and that I would get another fix of this great tern but it was not to be and only a few arctics flew around me as I walked through the marsh area. Both vega and glaucous gulls went crazy as I walked through the marsh as there was several young of both species but waders were extremely lacking on the coal river marsh bar a few red necked phalaropes. I then arrived at the rather run down area of Pervomyka and then made my way to see Roland, Liz and Xania. I had a natter with Liz for a while and then Roland. Liz fried up some food for us and it was nice having some thing to eat and cuppa and that my friends was pretty much it for the day and a rather quiet day to say the least but even the quiet days are good because they make the good days even better.
