Had a drive up to Caloundra this afternoon just for a stroll out. Had a look for the Wandering Tattlers but was unable to find any and so compensated by taking the 2 new photos of the Sooty Oystercatchers present today (above and below). Then just chilled out, had a stroll along the beach, grabbed some coffee's and Ice cream and just enjoyed the moment of a warm day, clear blue sky and good company.
Image below shows a typical "Brisbane Blue" sky that has been over us for the Christmas period.
There has been a cyclone off shore from the north east coast which has been creating a huge swells far out to sea but causing high waves (6-10ft) which closed beaches yesterday on both the Gold and Sunshine coasts and also a second cyclone in the north western territories near Darwin which reversed and tracked back out to sea away from the land. Luckily the beach was open today at Caloundra but I suspect the high waves and possible disturbance has caused the Tattlers to move to another location nearby. Below shows the area of rock pools where I photographed the Tattlers last week.
And so as the sun sets over Caloundra bringing a close to this Boxing Day here in Aus I can say that I have had the best / Happiest Christmas I have had in over many many years. "Thank you". Christmas 2011 in one word "Perfect".
