Finally ! I managed to catch up with the Marsh Sandpiper that has been present on & off here at Miranda for a few months. I first saw it from the road over-looking the Stilt pools the previous evening but yesterday morning it showed some what better from the trail side with the sun behind me. Still a little distant but at least it showed long enough to get the record shot above and awful footage below before disappearing back in to the vegetation. Quite a few local New Zealand birders have passed through here since the 1st of the month trying to see this bird with nearly all leaving without success so it is still present for any NZ birders who are interested. Marsh Sandpiper is an uncommon migrant to New Zealand.
