Well a lot has happened since the last post when I was in Mersing and then after that I travelled down to Singapore to meet with Es as she had just flown in from Australia. We then travelled overland to Mersing and then had a few days on the island and then travelled on to Tioman Island. On route to Tioman there was a huge flock of Bridled Terns that I can only estimate to be around 1200+, also whilst at the Bungalow I counted 42 Lesser Frigatebirds flying in to roost at dusk nearby.
We spent a few days catching up and chilling out at the area of ABC (above) and headed over the island by 4 wheel drive to Juara bay / beach.
Juara is my favourite place in this part of the world and really is Johor's best kept secret. The bay is secluded and just seems to me to be the ideal get-away from it all destination.
Above shows you the bay area of Juara and below shows you the main village area and so we decided to take a walk up the Juara Turtle Sanctuary to see Charlie and get an update if there were many Turtles around at the moment and what the chances were of seeing any during our short stay.
Once away from the village it is just forest area adjacent to the winning beach here and then we arrived at the Turtle Sanctuary below.

Above some facts about Turtles for you and below shows Es with Jo, Jo is a 6 year old, blind female Green Turtle that is looked after by the sanctuary and who Es couldn't seem to get enough of.
After catching up on Turtle sightings and updates on when baby Turtles should be hatching we took a slow walk back where Fruit Bats flew over head close by but the big surprise was seeing 2 Giant Red flying Squirrels both in flight close by and also the individual below perched on the side of the tree. I only had my small lens with me so this was the best I could do.
